Yes now I am getting used to Microsoft Office 2007. Here is my learning I want to share with all of you. If you need chart in your presentation, consider using insert chart option within PowerPoint. In ribbon interface click Insert-Chart. This will open Excel for you if Excel is not already running with some sample data based on Chart Type you have selected in previous step. You can edit your data here.
Good old way of creating chart in XL sheet first then either paste as an image or object (create from file – browse to already created file) still works. The issue I faced with old way of doing is formatting. I really struggled to set the view right. I added XL sheet as an object in my presentation. It was visible properly and then I double clicked on the object to edit data range. The moment I was out of edit mode, view was different. Check below images “salesbefore” and “salesafter” to see what I mean.

I have to do lot of adjustments this way to get view right. Whereas when I used option of insert chart within PowerPoint, every time I went to edit mode and came back everything was as is focus wise. I am not sure what it was, maybe there is a perfect explanation why I faced issues with focus when XL sheet was added as an object. One day I will figure out what’s wrong with old mechanism till then I am going to stick with what works for me. Insert chart within PowerPoint…way to go…
